Functions Sales Manager - Philippa Teale

Philippa has worked at The Waterside Hotel for nearly 9 years in several varied roles including membership sales for the leisure club, reception, reservations and has become a familiar front page face on the local newspapers for the advertising of the Leisure Club!

For the last 4 years she has worked within the Sales team and she thoroughly enjoy her present varied role and the friendly atmosphere the Waterside Hotel offers. Philippa is responsible for the Sales & Marketing of the hotel including Conferences, Banqueting, all Special Events and the Christmas co-ordination. Our welcoming team offers a dedicated personalised service for organizing any occasion.

Leisure Club Manager - Andy Johnson

Andy has worked in the leisure industry for over 14 years in both England and Australia. Working for companies such as Village Leisure, LA Fitness and Next Generation, he has acquired skills in Leisure Management, Pool Management, Leisure Sales, Sports Supplement Sales and Personal Training. Since 2003 Andy has been involved in managing some of the North West region's premier private leisure clubs and has an in-depth understanding of the key issues posed by leisure facility development and operations.

As a well established Leisure Club Manager and Personal Trainer Andy holds a vast range of fitness industry qualifications and prides himself on giving all members and clients his 100% commitment while working to develop the facilities and services the Galleon Leisure Club has to offer.

Sales & Membership Manager - Paul Coventry

Paul joined the Galleon in 2010, he holds a sports science degree and has worked in the leisure industry since leaving university for David Lloyd Leisure prior to moving to the galleon.

Paul prides himself on being approachable and willing to help so will be more than happy to listen to your views and work towards providing you with the services and facilities you require.

Group Fitness Manager - Alice Beresford

Alice joined The Galleon Leisure Club as Group Fitness Manager in April 2010. Since then she has worked hard to develop group fitness within the club by increasing the schedule from 50 to over 90 classes per week and by working with the members to provide the class timetable they would like to see. She has worked in the dance and fitness industry for 7 years, starting as a leisure receptionist, moving to a fitness instructor, then being promoted to the National Children's Fitness Coordinator for the Village Hotel Leisure Club before moving to the Galleon Leisure Club earlier this year.

Coming from a dance and fitness background Alice is very passionate about the work she does within the fitness industry and currently teaches a variety of classes herself including spin, aqua, dance, step, conditioning and zumba. Alice believes that fitness should be fun and her main aim is to help other people achieve their fitness goals either by teaching herself or by her continued commitment to developing group exercise within the club. She welcomes your feedback and hopes to see you in a class soon!

Gym Operations Manager - Marc Ratcliff

Marc has a wealth of experience in managing health and fitness facilities having worked in the industry for over 12 years.  He prides himself on his ability to develop and improve the services the Galleon Leisure Club offers and has an excellent understanding of what is needed to maintain high standards of facility management.  Having started his career as a gym instructor he has worked his way through the ranks of Team Leader, Assistant Manager and now Operations Manager. Marc has a wide range of recognised industry qualifications ranging from Gym Instruction to Pool Plant Operations.

Marc prides himself on being approachable and willing to help so will be more than happy to listen to your views and work towards providing you with the services and facilities you require.

Pool Operations Manager - Lee White

Lee has worked in the leisure industry for 13 years and has a whole host of leisure qualifications including level 2 gym instructor, lifeguard trainer qualified, pool plant operators course and Leisure & Tourism qualifications. He first started as a Centre Attendant for a leisure facility in Stockport. After obtaining his Pool Lifeguard qualifications, he was quickly promoted to Senior Lifeguard, then onto Duty Manager.

Lee started at The Galleon Leisure Club in May 2008 and due to his experience was given the responsibility of Pool Operation manager which includes the safe operation of the pool plant room to ensure the safety of our members. He is also responsible for the training and supervision of our lifeguards here at the club and welcomes any feedback regarding the wet areas of the club.

Duty Manager - Kelly Cooke

Kelly joined The Galleon in September 2007 as a casual lifeguard while she attending college studying PE, Leisure Studies & Psychology. After finishing her studies, she was quickly promoted to Leisure Club Duty Manager. Since working at The Galleon, Kelly has continued to study and has since gained her National Pool Lifeguard Qualification & Level 2 Gym Instructor. Kelly is friendly making her approachable to our members and is always willing to help.

With Kelly’s 3 years of industry experience she has developed many areas within the Leisure Club and is committed to continue to help move the club forward in a positive direction.
